Tacoma Arts Live presents
Civil Rights Legacy Tour: Nihonjin Face – Full Performance
Tacoma Arts Live is pleased to present Nihonjin Face, an original all-ages play by Janet Hayakawa and Tere Martinez. Commissioned as part of our Civil Rights Legacy Tour Nihonjin Face tells the story of Tomiko, a 10 year-old in Tacoma’s Japan Town in 1942, with flash forwards to the current day. Each year the Civil Rights Legacy Tour presents original theater inspired by historical and on-going struggles for social justice. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. said that “An injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” This statement guides the Civil Rights Legacy Tour in its performances and free resources which serve over 20,000 students each year.
