Tacoma Arts Live presents
Nihonjin Face – Chapter 2
Tacoma Arts Live is pleased to present Nihonjin Face, an original all-ages play by Janet Hayakawa and Tere Martinez. In the first episode, we met 10 year-old Tomiko Hashimoto. It’s 1942 and the U.S. has just entered World War II. On the homefront, anti-Japanese sentiment is running high and Japanese Americans have been forced from their homes. As her family leaves, Tomiko chooses a necklace from her friend Alice to take with her to the camps. Meanwhile in 2017, high school students Tommy and RJ prepare for a history assignment by reaching out to Tommy’s grandmother.
